Join me in the clubhouse on the evening of Thursday 28th January where I'll be taking centre stage and dishing out some myth-busting, golf improving information which will get you all revved up for the year ahead and it's all FREE.

But how will you improve from an indoor discussion? Well, I come across many of the same 'performance reducing' assumptions each week in my coaching and club-fitting activities PLUS an increasing amount of internet and social media 'coaching' that glorifies the need to swing a club in a particular way or method with no concern about the actual ball-flight.

For example, Golfer A has a backswing that is too long and golfer B has a backswing that is too short, or Golfer A has too much slice and Golfer B has too much hook. My philosophy can best be summed up by the great John Jacobs who said -

"The sole purpose of the golf swing is to produce a correct repetitive impact. The method employed is of no significance as long as it is correct and repetitive."

In terms of our Golfer A and Golfer B above, the swing that is 'too long' could be Phil Mickelson, the swing too short could be Justin Rose, the golfer with too much hook and also the golfer with too much slice could both be Bubba Watson - do you see how each of them is a multi-millionaire form using what could be considered a faulty swing if we subscribed to a method.

- There's a reason why Jim Furyk features in all the major events year after year
- There's a reason why Zach Johnson won the Open with a very strong grip
- There's a reason why Paula Creamer dips into the ball so much and wins a million
- There's a reason why Mickeslon, Stenson and Woods have won majors even when they couldn't hit a driver
- There's also a reason why Seve hit it all over the place to be maybe the greatest player ever and how Tiger does the same to possibly lose that title.

Actually, I can save you the need to come down for the night and listen to me - just do the exact opposite of whatever you think it is that you need to do to improve your shots. That's it.

- If you think you need to swing slower to hit the ball well, swing quicker
- If you think you need to swing to the right to stop hooking, swing left
- If you think you need to keep your head down, let it lift.

These will all fix your misses guaranteed, but if you'd like to come along and find out why - put the 28th January in your diary.

- Learn how to hit the next ball better
- Are you a 1 fix or 2 fix golfer?
- Why is your driving off when you iron play is good or vice-versa?
- How practicing half wedges can drastically improve your driving
- How does the chop-slicer have the secret to great golf without knowing it?

My last Academy night was about 4 years ago and the room was packed so there will be a limit on the numbers - click here to place your name on the attendance list or pop into the shop or call 01785 661485.

The evening will start at 7pm until about 9pm. Everyone is welcome, members, newsletter readers, partners so get in quick to avoid disappointment.
