You can trade in any old pair of golf shoes and get £15 off Contour shoes and Contour Casual and £20 off other models like DNA and DryJoys, in both men's and ladies styles.
The Divoting party was well supported on Tuesday, huge thanks to everyone who donated their time to benefit the course for all to play. The general consensus was that it felt a very therapeutic experience! It started to snow whilst we were on the 13th which just added to the dedication buzz.
Please make every effort to put divots back and repair pitchforks every time you play - it's your course after all and it's looking great with the greens getting really quick and smooth.
Straight after the divoting, we went out to play the Social Golf and 40 golfers took part, which were all a very hardy bunch considering it was a snow blizzard again as we started.
The back nine was in play and as we got to the 11th tee and turned around, an apocalyptic sight met us, as out of the blackness a huge wall of hail raced up the fairway towards the tee with only the clubhouse lights offering a hint of civilisation, as they now shone out with all the urgency of a lighthouse warning of oncoming disasters. That's right - it chuffing well hailed and snowed on us again!!
Very well done to the competitors and to the winners:
1st Ian Partington 22 points - £15
2nd Mike Dewsbury 18 - £12
3rd Ian Thwaites 18 - £10
4th Steve Smith 18 - £9
5th Gary Murphy 17 - £8
6th Mark Bendall 16 - £7
7th Harriet Painter 16 - £6
8th Matt Perrin 16 - £5
That's five weeks completed now and I'm going to divide the competitors into two groups. The top half of the field, given their best 3 scores, will form one division, known as the 'Premier League'. The second half of the field, again with their best 3 scores will form what will be affectionately known as the 'Numpty Group'.
Both divisions will now have their own order of merit with their best 3 scores counting towards the result. I keep a little back each week from the entry fund to provide some prizes at the beginning of June.
Everyone gets 1 point for playing (feels like we should have got 5 points this week!) and then 10 points for winning, 9 for finishing 2nd etc. plus there is the weekly prizes as well.
Driver Optimisation session
Here is a picture from a Driver Optimisation session I conducted this week.
We have all the latest driver heads to compare including Srixon, Callaway, TaylorMade, PING, Mizuno, Miura and Titleist yet the biggest difference is shown by the marks on the sticker. We got this golfer increasing the speed that the ball took off from 129 mph to 136 mph (and consistently in the 130's) by finding the centre of the club face more. What did we do to create this difference?
Well, anyone who has been to my Academy Nights will know that a slightly shallow impact is good for driving and we shallowed this golfer's swing out nicely!
The latest Academy night was due to be this week but I've had to cancel it and will host another one later in the year.
