Congratulations to Mike Dewsbury who had a fantastic win in the first event of the Midland Golf Union.
The historic 36 hole scratch event is held annually at Coventry Finham golf club, he scored -3 in the morning and level par in the afternoon and as it was the first event of the season Mike currently leads the Order of Merit by 50 points - past winners of the Order of Merit include current European Tour winners David Lynn, Sam Walker, Simon Wakefield, Steve Webster and probable Major winner this year - Andy Sullivan.
Fresh new colours are sprouting in the shop in the Ladies clothing section as we have a new selection of Glenmuir clothing this week. With tops from £20 and sports etc. from £35 there's something for everyone. We also have the SurprizeShop ladies specific range of visors, ball markers, scorecard holders and towels to show you.
Lewis is on exam and study leave now and just when he thought he'd get a couple of lie-ins this week we put him to work servicing the buggies.
Mind you, we all got kitted out in new FootJoy staff uniform this week so he looked the part!
I watched a charity football match on Saturday afternoon held in memory of Brocton member Carl Tindall. The atmosphere was terrific, especially in the second half as they let some youngsters on including Richard Gee's 7 year old. What a debut he made as he scored within a minute with a quick 1-2 and a weave around the keeper.
Late deliberate fouls in the penalty box gave the other youngsters penalty chances and also gained the 'foulee' a £5 yellow card fine adding to the large amount raised for the Everton foundation which was Carl's team.
This week's Tuesday social had 54 entrants. Well done to the bar and catering staff who were handling the Stone Group Charity golf day and the social as well. Yes, I may have been aged 43 on Wednesday but I'm so 'With-it' that I've set up a Facebook Page so people can look and see the results each week. It can be found by searching Brocton Hall Tuesday Social or by going to facebook.com/TuesdaySocialBrocton.
We'll be putting the results on there, fixtures, Order of Merit and likely some banter too! Please bear in mind that any member posting messages is representing the golf club so please no foul language or bullying!
This week's winner was Steve Treadwell who shot his best ever gross score of 36 for the front nine holes giving him 23 points to win by 3 shots from Josh Smith. Katie and I were attending the charity dinner so we made many trips into the bar to retrieve the cards and I presented the prizes for the golf day and then went straight up to the bar to announce the Tuesday Social results. It's great to see the club buzzing with folks.
The rest of the results are on the Facebook page.
