Last week we welcomed members of the victorious 1966 World Cup football squad who played at Brocton last year and enjoyed it so much, they returned for another bite at the cherry.
The other story is that Ron Flowers won last time and requested we play at his home course again?!
The US Open sweep is up and running in the pro shop, pick a player at random out of the top 50 in the betting and then watch with interest to see if they, and you, win! It's £3 per pick and there's prizes for the top 3 finishers plus worst score of the day.
Once the 50 names have been drawn, we'll start another sheet so there's plenty of chance for you to win.
Rory McIlroy has improved his chances at Pinehurst with his astounding win at the BMW last weekend. It was a gripping final round as the lead changed many times and Rory's 5 under par for the back nine clinched the title in style.
How about Colin Montgomerie winning the Seniors PGA championship in Michigan? After all those years of coming so close to winning a major, he goes on to win on his first attempt on the Seniors Tour and also in America which was never a good battle ground for him. Also impressive was Tom Watson shooting his age in the final round to finish second with a 65.
Finally, did you watch Adam Scott win on the US PGA Tour? He beat Jason Dufner in a playoff and was clearly seen using the new Aimpoint Express green reading method. We've been teaching the Aimpont method for 2 years but it always fell down because golfers needed the chart with them at all times to known where to aim. Aimpoint Express was developed so kids could learn how putts break but it turns out to be so accurate that it's replacing the Aimpoint charts and you're going to see more and more tour pros using it, especially since Adam Scott has removed the stigma from using it.
Those of you who took part in my winter putting clinics will receive an invite in a few weeks to the next level of putting clinics. These will be held on the putting green and will involve course management and the Aimpont Express reading method.
Also coming me up soon I'm arranging a putting knockout competition, a putter demo day and. Another series of putting clinics. Watch this space!
Good luck to the President for his upcoming weekend and to the Lady President for next weeks event, and of course to all the competitors.
We have a special glove promotion on both of these days supported by FootJoy which was originally scheduled for the May medal - simply buy any FJ glove before you play and if you beat your handicap, we'll give you another one free of charge?

2nd Sam Harvey 18
3rd Alan Thomas 17
4th tied Daz Poole, Steve Turner, Sean Nelson
Most golfers on Tuesday stay for some food afterwards and I have to say the new menu is going down a storm with everyone. Our 10 year old Simon played this Tuesday with me and Katie and Lewis came up for tea afterwards - how's this for a varied platter: steak and ale pie with vegetables (pictured above), fish and chips with mushy peas, smoked salmon penne pasta and sausage, beans and chips!
The presentation is unique for a golf club with all the veg and beans etc. served as a side dish and the variety on offer is fantastic. Last week we had steaks for a sit down dinner of 60 at the Stone Computers charity golf day and they were all perfect. How many golf clubs can now say they have this standard of catering available? PLUS breakfast are also available at weekends for a trial period.
Whilst the uptake of the breakfasts hasn't been huge (they have been generally quieter weeks anyway due to lack of events or bad weather), they've certainly been appreciated - as this picture of Simon showed from Saturday as he helped me rearrange the shop! Make the most of this weekend service and hopefully it will continue.
(Pic of Simon with his sausage sandwich - payment for working!!)
Lewis came in on Sunday as well and rearranged the shoe wall and club display. Here's some pics for you.
Our wedge area is fantastically stocked with 105 wedges in stock.
For the next few weeks we are running our irons promotion. Buy a set of irons and you could get FREE fitting and a FREE lesson.
Our Grip bar is hugley popular with over 500 grips of varying brands and constructions.
Good luck to the Brocton Hall team playing in the Millenium Bowl this Friday at the fantastic Northants County. Last year we were the first team to retain the trophy so this would make a hat-trick. The millenium bowl is played between teams from Brocton Hall, Northants County, The Leicestershire, Kedleston Park and Stratford Upon Avon golf clubs and the players qualify by winning tournaments during the year.
