Unusual fittings I had a couple of unusual outcomes from club-fitting sessions this week, please read on below to find out more: Fitting 1 A new member, Paul, came along for a driver fitting with the somewhat rare statement that they’ve never used any woods. What made it even rarer was that he pays off a 9 handicap and established his handicap on a much longer course. Just this information alone tells us three key things: A) He is likely to have a swing which is very in-to-out in direction and hit draw shots, as this path causes the ball to strike the club low on the face which works with irons but doesn’t work with woods. B) He is likely to de-loft the club during his swing in order to squeeze more yardage out of his irons. C) He probably hits downwards on all his shots - largely because irons are shorter clubs in shaft length and promote a steeper posture and swing.
