Looks like we may need to remove Rory from the majors sweeps like we used to do with Tiger if he carries on this week!
At the time the bookies used to do the same and you could bet on a major tournament as if Tiger wasn't in the field, we used to leave him out of the sweep because it was unfair odds to the person who picked him. Rory seems to becoming such a dominant player in the biggest tournaments as he re-gained the number 1 spot last weekend. What's most impressive is that you couldn't have played two courses which are more dissimilar than Hoylake and Firestone.
The PING G30 range is out now for you to sample, early reports are that everyone loves the turbulators on the crown of the clubs. Of course it's still vital that you use the correct specifications - PING's driver are 45.75" long which tends to be an inch longer than most golfers can use (including tour pros). That said, it's easy for us to customise and retro-fit the clubs for you and make a good club even better.
Rich Le Page returned from the World Deaf Golf Championships in Michigan with a runners up shield. As his scores were featured heavily in the team, he may not need to bother planning a family holiday in 2 years time for the next championships!
Back at Brocton and our youngsters have been at it again, particularly Jake Sheldon. As reported last week, on Monday he shot a gross 73 off 12 handicap, 61 nett which brought his handicap down to 10. Then on Friday he shot a gross 1 over par 70, nett 60 to win the Oakwood Cup and was 2 under gross after 11 holes and now plays off 8.6.
He was chased by Holly Hunt who was only 3 over after 11 holes off 16 handicap and junior captain, George Johnson, who was out in 1 over off 13 handicap!
The Oakwood Cup was presented in 1994, the centenary year of the the club, by Past Captain and Past President Kenneth Davies and I'm sure he'd be very impressed with the effort displayed by the competitors and volunteers.
Only a couple of days now until my Katherine House Hospice charity bike ride in London. My last training ride was last week as I pedalled 85 miles in 6 hours, so I'm hoping to complete the London circuit in under 7 hours. Thanks for all the generous donations as I've now raised over £1000. Here's a picture of the fuel I used for 85 miles - it works out as roughly the same cost as petrol!

Valencia...
I'm currently on holiday at a friends apartment in Valencia but you'll be glad to know the cycling continues as we hire bikes to cycle along the Multi million pound renovated old dry river bed. I went to Valencia to the European Tour Qualifying School when I was 20 and it was the first time I'd ever been on a plane and been abroad so it was a steep learning curve.
Back in 1993 I played at Mediterraneo GC which it turns out was where Sergio Garcia played and would have been an 11 year old junior at the time.
I remember the old town of Valencia but they have spent fortunes with new features and I'd certainly recommend a break there.
Simon seems to have taken after his Dad as he eats his way around the city as well!
