Ladies Professionals Day Thanks to all the ladies who played in our Professional’s Day competition this week. Special thanks to Jill Pedley who shared her Birthday with us and was a great sport too! The Texas Scramble format was popular again, as was the Prosecco and wine, and we provided a couple of twists including a ‘nearest the BIN’ challenge. The winning scores were: 1st - Sharon Jefferies, Jan Baker & Steph Burgin = 47 points 2nd - Bridget Locke, Nikki Bowen & Harriet Fane = 45 points 3rd - Mary Harris, Ann Jennings & Caroline Wilkins = 40 points Nearest the pin on the 3rd was Harriet Fane and Nearest the Bin on the 9th was Jane Plant. All your winning vouchers are on your accounts and we have 50% off all the ladies current clothing ranges, so plenty of opportunity to invest the winnings straight away.
Men’s Professionals Day The men’s event takes place this Saturday and after a busy year I was going to just run a standard Texas Scramble event. Over the past 2 weeks lots of people have been asking me what special events we’d got lined up on the course as we usually do, so I’ve capitulated and we have the following fanciful features: Hole 1a - Played from the lawn in front of the clubhouse, over the lake to the 9th green as a par 3, then continue from the 1st hole as normal. Hole 3 - Nearest the pin - to celebrate the clubs anniversary, this will be played 125 yards long. Hole 6 - Every shot until you’re on the green has to be played with a wood. Halfway House - Complimentary refreshments all day, Simon will be on hand to serve you. We raised £90 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital in the Pro Am event with Simon in charge of the tips! Hole 9 - You have to play over to the 10th fairway and there will be a target on the fairway, your ball is classed as being holed when you hit the target. Hole 11 - Played from a forward tee adjacent to the junior tee - making the fairway bunker in range for the longer hitters. Hole 14 - Another special target to hit here! Hole 17 - Nearest the Pin. Hole 18 - You have to use one of our ancient Hickory putters to putt with. The forecast is good and this should be a lot of fun - just wish I was playing! If you’d like to play and you’re not entered yet, please let me know.
Race Night We have a Race Night for the Captains Charity on Friday night, there are some spaces available and these are usually great nights at the club. Please click here if you’d like to come along.
