Only half our squares remain in the Christmas Prize Draw. Squares are £3 each and there are over £900 worth of prizes to be won. The first prize will be chosen by the winner from the following options: a place on our Academy, a GPS or an electric trolley. There are 8 prizes in total and I intend to make the draw on Christmas Day.
No, I'm not coming into work on December 25th, but I will be at the club as there's 10 of us booked in for Christmas Lunch which will be the first time any of us have been 'out in public' for Christmas lunch. If you're at the club - we'll see you there.
Thanks to the club staff who'll be working on the day - at least the atmosphere should be good for them. The Pro Shop will still be open on Christmas Eve which is also a good atmosphere, only closes on Christmas Day and will be open until just after lunch on Boxing Day.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and the members of the various committees who've worked at the club during the year - there's been a few changes in the clubhouse and the attitude has been positive throughout. The staff all get on well together and Tuesday 23rd is the clubs annual staff dinner where the committee serve us a majestic Christmas Fayre followed by what we like to call a 'networking opportunity'.
In the Pro Shop, we tend to find our busiest days are the last couple of days before Christmas as many people rely on our easy access and free parking. Also people get the chance to get away from some last minute Christmas shopping and simply play golf! Hopefully the dry weather will hold out, the course has certainly been playing excellently lately, as visitors on our £37.50 winter green fee have agreed.

Remember we remain on proper tees and greens even in the frost, a good example was last Saturday as 70 golfers played in our Pro's fiddle amongst others playing winter league matches or socially - on a day when many other courses will be closed because of frost or will play off mats that you carry around, hitting to temporary greens.
Andy Fellowes and his staff have done a tremendous job this year on the course and it was good to hear the thanks conveyed during the Men's Presentation Dinner on Saturday night.
I've changed to using my carry bag to create less wear and less walking at the moment. If possible I'd recommend doing the same. The blatant sales lead here is that we have two Bridgestone carry bags on sale with a FREE towel and cap worth over £30.

I played a Pro-Am in my old stomping ground of Leicestershire last Friday at Kirby Muxloe Golf Club. Jason Palmer won for the second successive year with a 5 under par 66 - he's a guy you'll hear about very soon as he's just qualified for the European Tour and plays his shots around the green with just one hand on the club. Luke and I had our final pro-am of the year on Tuesday at Druids Heath Golf Club. Thanks to all the members who have played with us during the year and through the winter series - there's a lot of keen golfers at Brocton and great company too. Let us know if you'd like to play with us next year, I'm also planning some Pro's Days away at great courses during the year so keep a look out for them too.
It may be the end of the season for our tournaments but how about the plethora of tour pro action at the moment? Tiger Woods returns to the scene, duffs a few chips and comes last, Jordan Spieth travels halfway around the world and follows his 6 shot win in Australia with a 10 shot win in America, Tiger's niece wins an LPGA tour event and Padraig Harrington has his first win for years on the Asian Tour.
