It's a fast-changing world at the minute and one in which I find myself wishing there were more than 24 hours a day or 7 days a week to get everything done!  

We're awaiting clarification from the Government on the instruction to wear face masks in shops, to see if it applies to us at the pro shop (or maybe I should now call it the golf reception!?)  We have far more people coming in to use the studio (like a gym), or to check-in (like a reception) or to grab a drink or coffee (like a bar) than we do to 'shop'.  I played at Kingsbarns in October and the clubhouse there was open plan with the bar blending into the pro shop, so what happens at those places? There's talk about it not applying if you are well ventilated and can maintain 2m distancing. If not, we may be moving the counter to the doorway for those that don't wish to mask up.

Many of the golf companies have come out of lock-down with zero stocks and it's a major issue trying to get some of the simplest things. It seems they have taken the opportunity to use the various schemes to get their balance books healthier rather than cater to their customers. They're gradually improving but, for example, the golf trolley manufacturers are completely out of trolleys until August and have been for the past month.

Mind you, that doesn't affect Simon as you can see from this picture of him rescuing a buggy off of the course. I think he looks well at home on a single-seater buggy and it looks like a future-echo.

Another interesting view at the club at the moment is when you exit the clubhouse via the dining room. You'll see the 'Tulip Tree' on the left which apparently only flowers every 5 years and is in full bloom this year!
