What a year
All good things must come to an end and so we approach the end of 2020. ‘But what good has happened this year!?’, I hear you cry. Well, quite a lot actually. The whole year has been a huge team effort, whether it’s mankind coming together globally against the virus, communities rallying around each other in support, or the team rapport that a golf club membership is built upon being thrust to the fore. A team effort as well in the unsung heroes of the golf club who have paved the way for everyone else to enjoy as much golf, competition, camaraderie and exercise as they can manage whilst doing so in a safe environment. We’ve learned to Zoom, we’ve learned that social media can be used to keep in touch and engage in more ways than just watching cute videos of cats, we’ve re-learned that we really love golf for the social and health benefits, or for the competition, or for the community and many people have discovered golf for the first time with a huge uptake in our sport. We’ve learned to play with tee times, and in amongst one another, and to leave the flag in, and to play quicker and to play amongst the deer and to use the club’s app and so many more things. We all had the skills needed all along, we just got used to doing our own thing and not needing to problem solve much these days. But solve we did and the golfing calendar got completed more than I thought would happen for many weeks, hopefully, we can now look forward to embracing 2021 with a mixture of the new benefits that we’ve learned and the best bits of our old life back intact. On behalf of all of us at the Pro Shop, I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us through the year, we’ve lived and breathed it as a family together with you and I think we did alright as one big five hundred strong team - team Brocton Hall. |
