My diary's getting full, the Spring clothing is arriving in stock and the course is getting busier, it can only mean one thing - the US Masters is only 3 weeks away and our Masters sweep is now OPEN!
£3 per go, pick a player's name at random from the top 50 in the draw and watch with interest as the tournament unfolds. Once the sheet is full we run it again and there will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall, plus the best and worst scores each day. Pop into the shop and have a go next time you're up.
US MASTERS Cleveland promotion
I'm happy to announce an amazing money back US Masters promotion featuring Cleveland Golf.
Simply buy at least one Cleveland wedge between now and the 2015 US Masters and if ANY one of three Cleveland Staff Players wins the tournament, you'll get your money back!!
For example, choose a new £99 Cleveland RTX 2.0 wedge (the most popular wedges in golf in 2014) and if Keegan Bradley, Graham McDowell or JB Holmes win the US Masters, you'll get the £99 credited back to your shop account!
Any number of wedges count so you could get a two or 3 wedge system for FREE. Of course, if they don't win then you've still got a great club in your bag and in the right department of your game to help your scoring. PLUS, don't forget I can custom fit the wedges to suit you and help you choose the right profile of loft and bounce for your style. The fittings are FREE of charge and we have various demos in each model for you to try out in the bunker or around the greens.

New in the pro shop
This week we have received the adidas BOOST golf shoes - try them on to believe how comfortable they are as their Boost technology reaches golf.

Also new in the shop are the Mizuno JPX woods, which I've spent some time testing and I have to say I'm very impressed with the ability to change shot shape with these beauties. In one fitting, they changed a slice into a draw so much that the golfer in question would have had to change his swing path much more to the right in order to allow for the right-to-left ball flight. So, he wold have drawn his woods and still sliced his irons and it became too much of a change in this case, but that's some pretty incredible shot shaping from a club.
The loft and face direction can be changed dramatically and the weights in the sole plate can be moved front and back and into the toe and heel. PLUS Mizuno offer a tour weight shaft at no extra charge for those requiring a heavier feel.

Driver fitting ALWAYS, ALWAYS ends up involving a little bit of coaching as the correct driver spec will show you how you are hitting the ball. In this golfers case, the correct spec ended up showing that they were consistently hitting the ball out the heel of the club and losing 20 -30 yards of distance.
In club-fitting terms that would indicate that the club was too long for them, but in this case I was happy that they were hitting the ball out the heel, as you can see that that was exactly where they were addressing the ball from.
The correct club meant that they returned to exactly where they started - the cure? Get used to setting the ball up out the middle of the club now and rip it!
Pro's fiddle
Remember the 55 yard shot challenge from a couple of weeks ago? Here is a screen shot from the launch monitor this week as the holy grail of 55 yards carry and 55 mph clubhead speed and 55 mph ballspeed was nearly achieved. Nearly, nearly.
Tuesday social
The popular weekly Tuesday Social starts on April 7th. You can enter between 3pm and 6pm and the idea is that anyone can come along and we'll make you up into groups for a social 9 hole stableford. The cost is just £2 to play and everything goes back into prize vouchers. Most people stay for some food afterwards and we vary between the format of the game and the front nine and back nine.
I play most weeks and get out with as many golfers as I can during the season. This year there will be a special prize running throughout the season in memory of Stewart Staples who was a great supporter of the Tuesday Social.
More details next week.
