Well done to Team Brocton Hall as we had three Weddings on consecutive days at the club last weekend, plus the Lichfield Cup, PLUS it was a Bank Holiday weekend. Great effort by all the staff.

Scratch team
The Scratch team won at home on Saturday against Penn golf club which means they gain promotion to the next division for, I think the 4th year in a row? The match was played in memory of Carl Tindall who was a regular scratch team member and was sadly involved in an incident in Stafford last week resulting in him losing his life whilst in intensive care. Well done to the Scratch Captain Neil Johnson, who has organised the troops well and congratulations to the team - Carl would have been justifiably proud of you all.
Tuesday's social golf was busy despite some rain with 39 golfers playing.

There will still be social golf on next Tuesday from 3-6pm despite the course maintenance and for at least another 4 weeks until the light beats us.
The Ladies Club Championship was won by Mary Robertson last week from Anne Rees in the best gross competition. Lady Captain Gill Bloxham won the ELGA bowl for the best nett.
The Juniors played for the new Pegasus Trophy on Friday which has been presented by Mary Allen in memory of her husband David who died in September last year. David was our Assistant Junior Organiser from 2010. He was also the Chairman of The Staffordshire County Golf Partnership Academy Committee. The trophy was won by Hannah Golding and Maria-Tiffany Thompson (Blue Tees) with a great 44 points. This in spite of the fact that Maria had to lose seven shots off her handicap before playing! Full results can be seen here.

Lots of success from golfers lately after working on their games with me over the past few weeks, including those who attended the Short Game Masterclasses:
"I thought the short game masterclass was excellent. I like the way you simplify things. I've been using my sand wedge for some considerable time now for short pitches but I was obviously unconsciously closing the face. I am now floating the ball nicely up close to the pin without fear of over hitting." - BRIAN
"Overall I think it was the best £10 I have ever spent on golf tuition; nuggets for me include - chipping tip re glove hand facing down, bunker technique from wet sand and tipping action of clubface for getting higher ball flight from soft sand… ...please count me in for any future master classes" - COLIN
"Some time ago you made me a shorter version of my long putter. This being in anticipation of rule changes regarding anchoring of putters...I can report after a fairly long period, it's worked out just fine - In fact I wouldn't change it…I Couldn't do without it." - MIKE
Well done, or nearly well done to Peter Frisby who has been working on his game after struggling to play to his handicap for a while, his score of +6 in the Lichfield Cup Bogey would have normally won but Andrew Saxon shot the same score and wins the Cup, great score Andrew - who was +8 at one point! You'll have to wait a little longer Peter to finally get your name on the board, although off a handicap 2 shots lower than you were last week!
Course Maintenance takes place next week at the club. The course remains open but please remember that the green staff have priority all week. The course has been in fantastic condition over the past few weeks and the fairways and greens look so lush. At this time of year the necessary work should recover pretty swiftly - surely we're due for some warmer weather!!
